There is plenty of advice you can give on bracing gable ends. There is no reason why you should need to give specific advice pertaining to meeting the 2001 FBC. Just tell them to put some X bracing in, maybe T off the 2x4’s running up the gable wall. Throw some rat runs in and blocking in between the trusses.
