Finally, regarding trestle bracing, Tommy pretty much nailed it. My opinion is that trestle bracing adds a bit more mass between the front and back of the guitar which helps keep the feedback down a bit. Gretsch retired trestle bracing in the early 60's (I think because of QC problems in ceeping the wood and patterns consistent.)
