Acetone can be used as a catalyst to enable other chemicals to mix with gas for racing but by itself has little to no benefit. In the old days mixing caster oil with gas was popular in 2 cycle engines but it would not stay in suspension too well so acetone was added as a cure. Amyl acetate works also.
