At one race, the team collected donations for the ovarian cancer foundation, HERA. They enjoyed helping a greater good so much that they started their own non-profit in 2011, known as Velo Amis. The name is French for “bike friends” or “friends of bikes,” inspired by Lauri’s year spent in Grenoble, France in 2008.

We had a solid team turn out a the last cyclocross event of the year. Simon Carson, David West, Mark Wellsted, Paul Driver and Rachel Clarke all raced. Mark came 4th (just pipped for 3rd towards the end), David and Paul came 10th and 14th on a surprisingly dry but technically tricky course. Simon and Rachel finished 51st & 14th.
