For high gear at 125 mph and a 28 inch tall tire a stick trans would need a 4.80 gear in hi ( 1 to 1 ratio). So you can see it may not be practical to put as hi a gear in it as it would seem. Also it takes valuable time to shift a stick trans, i don't care how good a guy is. So making sure you only need three shifts might be a good idea.
