If you're a really good racer you could get away with that. But most beer league courses I've seen are set tight enough that a 25m ski would be quite a handful. Most people in my local league are on R17-R19 cheater skis. The really fast guys who can really bend a ski are on R21, maybe R23.

Masters and fis Race versions typically need more speed to start turning, it can make the first gate or two tricky on some beer league course sets. The cheater/consumer race skis are usually better suited for beer league unless you have a great start ramp and the course setter likes wide flowy sets with a straight start.

Thanks for the input, I'll probably just start with a dedicated GS ski, but SL for the quiver eventually. I figure a race ski will be great on the groomers, good for the league, and I'm not skiing much else right now so no need to go for anything wider, twin tip, etc. I really just want a true GS ripper that isn't 35 @ 190.
