Founded in 1995, the University of Toronto Blue Sky Solar Racing team is a student-led design-build team that has designed, built and raced solar powered vehicles for over 25 years. Last October, the team finished their 10th generation vehicle, Viridian, and succesfully raced in the 2019 World Solar Challenge.

In October, the Blue Sky Solar Racing team successfully completed a gruelling 3,021-kilometre trek across the Australian outback at the 2013 Bridgestone World Solar Challenge, recording an impressive eighth-place finish out of 23 teams. The B-7’s predecessor from U of T, Azure, placed 24th in the 2011 World Solar Challenge.
