A non-M is more than strong enough. The hook is threaded into the bumper shock. I use the front tow hook to hold the front down when it's in the trailer. I've been doing this for many years and have not had a problem. The reason why I use the front tow hook, is because I have 5" of extra length in my trailer once I have everything loaded.
