With the U-Bolt system you can put a piece of timber down the side of the stump with about 3 U-bolts and attach the brace to that, if you are worried that the brace will slide. Ring the manufacturer see what they recommend. The building inspector probably wont appreciate stumps being drilled into. Why dont you ring your building surveyor.

Posts: 49. hi shrek the best way to brace the concrete stumps is to glue a stick of timber to the side of the stumps using construction adhesive or maxibond,to help hold this in place you can wrap hoop iron around the stump and nail it of in the timber. you then have a timber support to nail timber bracing onto or screw metal bracing onto.
