The two methods of bracing are shown in Figures 1 and 2. Traditionally the diagonal brace has been used on tiled roofs with a span of up to 13,0 m. This was later reduced to 10,5 m. On metal sheeted roofs, the diagonal brace only, has been used for spans up to 15 m. In none of the cases was any stiffness requirement applied to the bracing.
