The backplates of the pads have raised parts that fit into the grooves (In a + shape) on the face of the pistons. These are the same grooves that you used for the wind-back tool. It is important that these grooves are set to the + position, not like x. This is to prevent the pistons from turning.

The obvious way is to order the AP Racing brakes direct from Caterham Cars. This consists of a set of 4-pot callipers and 2 vented discs (along with associated brake pipes and pads) It is a tried and tested solution but it isn't cheap (about £650), and to be honest the thing that put me off most was the vented brake discs that this package uses.

The standard rear pads from Caterham are £46.20, but a good brand (Mintex) alternative is only £14.20 from Camskill. I have actually done as you suggest by spending a little more on the rear pads (£29.64 - interestingly less than they charge for the standard ones ) to get the uprated ones Richard suggested to go with the 1144 front pads.
