Doug hit the nail on the head (as usual). The 450X is as woods capable as any other magic button equipped 450. It's reliable, has tons of power, and handles great. But it weighs a lot (ahem 450 w/e-start). IMO it is not an ideal woods bike, nor is any other 450. They're just a lot to handle in the tight stuff.

From my experience, I typically get about 60 to 70 miles of single-track on a tank on the 300 and I got about the same out of the CRF450L. I didn’t run the Honda dry, but the fuel light came on around the 65-mile mark. Keep in mind, the Hammer Run was mainly single-track the whole day with only a few miles of pavement to connect the trails.
