Dave Riolo, a local racer, was standing behind Dorman when he said it. Evidently, he liked the idea because he and the other racers later came to the line with 'Pro Gas' shoe-polished on their windshields. Bob Bunker was another founding member of Pro Gas. Thus, Pro Gas got its name.

Dave Riolo built stuff for me a long, long time ago (Roseville these days, I believe). Since it's not much further, I would also have to recommend my current engine builder, Mike Blackstone at Watson Racing and Engineering in Concord; or, S&S Automotive in San Leandro and Ricky Santos - he set up my heads.
