Hard to imagine that the temple of commerce known as Devonshire Mall was once the site of a massive Horse Racing track, known as the Devonshire Racetrack. Michigan once banned horse racing, which led to an earlier stage of Windsor being Detroit’s place to get what you couldn’t get at home. Three racetracks once graced our fair city in the 1920’s.

Windsor Raceway was a standardbred harness racing track located in Windsor, Ontario. The track was 5/8 of a mile in length. The facility closed August 31, 2012. The inaugural race took place on October 22, 1965, with Castle Direct driven by Fred Roloson, the first horse to ever cross the line with a time of 2:10.
