Built with 1/4" aluminum, this jack plate will easily accomodate the 2-cylinder, 40hp Nissan and Tohatsu motors used in Sport C racing. For larger, heavier motors 3/8" aluminum would be advised. The plans also show you how to add a bracket to your jackplate to accomodate a racing-style trim system.

Bolt the jack plate to your transom using at least two 3/8" bolt for each half of the unit. Locate the upper bolt close to the corner of the aluminum angle so that the motor is unable to pull it away from the boat. I have not specified an exact location for your mounting bolts, since you may have structure or equipment in your boat to work around.

An optional feature for your jackplate is a bracket for the hydraulic cylinder used in a racing-type trim system. In this type of system, a single hydraulic cylinder is located along the centerline of the boat. One end of the cylinder is bolted to the motor's tilt assembly.
