Doug was just eight years on when he started racing locally, before moving to quarter-midgets at the age of thirteen. He started his full ISMA career in 1978, taking Rookie of the Year honours and becoming the youngest driver ever to win a feature race at Oswego Speedway. Between 1980 and 1983, Doug won 27 out of 33 races at Oswego.

In 1969 Heveron began racing at the Syracuse Geddes Microd Track at the New York State Fairgrounds when he was 8 years old. When he was 13 years old, Heveron started racing quarter midgets. When he was in high school at Liverpool High School, he spent time helping regionally known racer Jim Shampine at Shampine Auto Parts.

Heveron became the youngest driver ever to win a feature race at Oswego Speedway (the Alean 75 Lapper). Heveron became the track’s dominant driver. He won the Oswego International Classic at the age of 20. Heveron won 27 of his 33 Oswego Speedway features from 1980 to 1983. In 1983, Heveron took a shot at qualifying for the Indianapolis 500.

Doug Heveron (March 29, 1964- ) is a former NASCAR driver from Liverpool, NY. He competed in thirty-one Sprint Cup Series events in his career, spanning from 1984 to 1986. He recorded just a best finish of 13th twice in that series. Luckily, Heveron had a better show of it in the Busch Series (now Nationwide Series), recording 65 starts.
