1,736 Posts. #4 · Mar 30, 2009. you'll never hit 4th in the quarter, your 3rd gear will get you through the trapps, 700R4's 3rd gear is 1.0 which is 1.0:1, same as th350 and 400, the 4th gear is 0.7 which is 0.7:1 not a huge difference, the only thing you'll use o/d for is highway crusing over 50, to help save the engine.
