But it wouldn't let me take off in second gear. gearing now is 14/41 tires are 22 in 8 paddle haulers on 8 inch rim. I feel it could of been faster if i could of got 2nd gear launches to work.

Way more load on tranny in second gear then first . Respectfully want to challenge this assertion. If you get traction off the line, 1st gear would produce the largest loads on the trans not 2nd. Well then your governor or your later human shift will determine when it shifts to second. Unless you have a full manual valve body even if you select 2nd on the line you're still in first. The governor will just shift it to second. With a full manual valve body, if you select third from a stop, you'll take off in third. Same for 1st and 2nd.

Line lock (you'll need one these to keep your burn outs consistant) in 2nd gear and clutch in, Rpms to 4000 rpms, dump the clutch, when you see some good smoke , roll out of the burn out and prestage.
