One of the big things no one has mentioned. Heat cycles. A Nascar engine that runs 600 miles only goes through a few heat cycles. A drag race engine with 100 runs will go through at least 100 heat cycles. I used to run a bunch of old Nascar stuff and I'd go 500 to 600 runs between rebuilds. This was with roller cams and wet sump oiling though.

Basically, NASCAR is guaranteed network coverage while NHRA drag racing often has network spots, but not always. Now, I could be wrong, but I don't believe any other motorsport in the US other than NASCAR and NHRA drag racing get (regular) network coverage.
