For the 2-3 shift, push the shift knob forward at a slight diagonal with the palm of your hand. The spring will naturally pop the shifter to the neutral point between 3 and 4, and you continue to push it straight up into 3rd gear. A clean 2-3 shift is a little tougher, but you’ll get it right with practice.
