    Mallala Motorsport Park is the historical home of motorsport in South Australia. The Mallala Race Circuit, as it was originally known, was established on the site of the former RAAF Base Mallala. The land was purchased from the Royal Australian Air Force at public auction in 1961 by a group of enthusiasts seeking to create a replacement for the Port Wakefield Circuit.

    Mallala hosted many important championship races over the next 10 years including 1962 & 1964 Gold Star Championship, 1962 & 1968 Australian Tourist Trophy, and 1963 and 1965 Touring Car Championship.
