Long before 1970, Nicoll was a tough young guy that had been living in Southern California since the 1950s. He had ditched out on his native Texas to be in the heart of drag racing country and by the early 1960s he was driving any number of cars for any number of people. Gas burners, nitro burners, coupes, dragsters, it really did not matter.
