3,559 Posts. #2 · May 14, 2005. Only show this user. I think the 17749's have a 22" case from what I remember, unless I'm confused. That's quite a bit longer than the Summit mufflers. From what I've read, the longer a turbo muffler is, the better it muffles and flows. 1970 Malibu. 355/TH350/3.36.

There isn't much difference in sound at idle, The Summit ones may be a little bit louder, but the Dynomax do "rap" more under heavy acceleration, sound a bit more like an old Thursh glaspack muffler. If you look inside the Summit ones, (I had offset inlet/outlet) there is no packing at all. Just a couple flat baffles that bounce the sound around.
