In my experience, the Eaton units perform about the same as the Trac-Lok except in 'zero friction' situations where the preload of the clutches does help the Trac-Lok a little. In most other conditions, the Truetrac engages a little faster, but in the end, offering about the same amount of power transfer.

Jan 1, 2010. Messages. 1,029. Location. Evansville, IN. I wouldn't get a locker if its a street car. They're clunky and there is no slip unlike a limited slip differential. A limited slip is way better around curves and in parking lots. Leave the lockers to the off road trucks.

Some owners say that the Truetrac will not spin both tires when drag racing and that you have to apply a little brake to make it work. The Eaton seems to do this better, although any clutch type limited slip differential will have problems doing water burnouts if not set up correctly. That is why the Detroit Locker is much better for drag racing.
