Ellwein Engines was founded in 2006 and is an officially registered company in the state of Maryland. The company is one person, Karl Ellwein. Karl started building engines in 1998 as a hobby and finally became convinced to make a business out of it due to the encouragement of the late Lennart Bergqvist of AUTOSHOP Racing Engines.

Ellwein Racing Engine #8 ERE-383 #8 518 crank hp @ 6700rpm, 475 ft-lbs @ 4300rpm Race 383 shortblock for mild performance and California emissions. LE2 heads with LE1 emissions cam. This motor will be run-in using McKeown Motorsports engine dyno. Titan gerotor oil pump and Ellwein/Stef's oil pan will be installed.
