BEFORE YOU DRILL INTO THE HOOD - Another handy tip when "measuring" is to mount the thick pins where Dave mentioned. Then put chalk or something else transferable on the top of the pins. Carefully close the hood onto the pins, which will transfer your mark onto the bottom side of the hood.
