FWIIW, the speedcal vs speedometer gear debate depends upon the model. 96-98 with a VSS sensor. The output of the VSS sensor does to BOTH the PCM and Cluster. While it technically possible to reprogram the PCM, that does not fix what the cluster speedometer is displaying. That is why the speedo gear is recommended.
