The brakes are center pull and they have good clearance and also are very strong. A down side is the bike are heavy and my guess is 28 to 30 pounds since all is steel even crank. The wheels are steel with indentions but when wet will be useless. You cant change over to 700 series wheels cause the brakes want go down that far.

This auction is for a used 70's Garlatti road bike. This bike looks to be all original with the exception of the cranks, brake pads, and tires. Beautiful Chrome lugs. There is some spotted surface corrosion on the frame as well as some patches where the paint is missing. There is one small ding in the the non-driveside seat stay otherwise no dents.

Dating a Garlatti I bought a virtually identical bicycle in October 1971 from Baggio cycles in Montreal, Canada. Baggio sold a large number of them in blue, green, red, and all-chrome (mine was blue). The only difference I can see is that mine had Campagnolo hubs and half-step gearing -- 52/49 in the front, and 14-21 or 23 in the rear. Save Reply
