On our visit we saw vehicles Ice Racing on the frozen lake surface and people Ice Fishing at the other end ! There is a warming shed & other facilities plus picnic areas for the warmer months ! Obviously boating activities & fishing would be the summer pursuits. There are also some hiking trails available & it is close to Georgetown for supplies etc.

Every year at Georgetown Lake since 1977, people have been participating in the Georgetown Ice Races. It is one of the only lakes within miles that holds this competition, so it draws a very large crowd over the weekend. With multiple courses and events, there is a spot for everyone to race if signed up in time, with no required skill level.

The ice in Georgetown averages 12 to 22 inches throughout the two months racing season. There must be 12 inches to hold a race, 18 inches before trucks and trailers are allowed onto the ice and 20+ inches before large RVs are allowed on the ice. Everyone is asked to park 20 feet apart to maintain even weight distribution in the pit area.
