GREEN VALLEY RACEWAY'S ROLE IN RACING HISTORY Bill and Dorothy McClure, owners of a 400 acre dairy farm north of downtown Smithfield, decide to develop 250 acres of their property into a drag strip. In early 1960, after months of planning, contracts and red tape, Green Valley Raceway officially opens.
