Gus Schrader (born 22 May 1895 Newhall, Iowa; died 22 Oct 1941 Shreveport, Louisiana). Killed in a crash in his last ever race, after which he planned to run the family farm. A sprint car ace, being especially strong on dirt tracks, Gus died later in hospital. Schrader served in the US Army during World War 1, and then started racing in 1917.

Gus Schrader was born in Newhall, Iowa on May 22, 1895. Schrader started racing motorcycles in his teens and turned to cars soon after World War 1, first racing Model T Fords, and then switching to Nash, which happened to be the dealership in Newhall.
