History of Hallett Motor Racing Circuit The story of Hallett began with Anatoly Arutunoff, an amateur racer whose family immigrated from Russia and eventually settled in Oklahoma. After racing with the likes of Richie Ginther, Dan Gurney and Carroll Shelby, Arutunoff set out to build his own racetrack near Hallett, Oklahoma, which opened for business in 1976.

Hallett Motor Racing Circuit (HMRC) is a 1.8 mile, 10 turn road racing course located in the rolling Osage Hills of North Eastern Oklahoma. It is located 35 miles west of Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the Highway 99 exit of the Cimarron Turnpike. HMRC has over 80 feet of elevation change and is considered “technically difficult.”

Beginning in the 1970s the newly constructed Hallett Motor Racing Circuit drew race car enthusiasts from across the United States. Disasters have beset the community on numerous occasions. On June 20, 1916, lightning struck the oil storage tanks southwest of Hallett. Fires in 1918 and 1940 destroyed the school building.
