1. I have read a lot about H14 sailing/racing but have found that there is not as much about H14T racing. One question I have is regarding the downwind leg. What I have read says that an H14 typically is sailed directly downwind towards the mark. Given that the H14T has a jib, is it faster to sail 90degree apparent or directly downwind?

Let out till curls and sheet in till it stops. In puffy or windy conditions, skipper heads down (opposite of upwind) when hull starts to fly or feel overpowered. Keep mainsail sheeted medium tight and hold the main traveler line. In puffs or windy conditions let out traveler when feel overpowered.

After struggling for two days, I can tell you from experience there are a few huge tips. #1. Put the Kayak in the sun for about 30 mins. ( It expands the plastic and will make your install much easier) #2. I made a pool noodle jack to gently lift the deck up to get the blocks back where the belong. Those two tips alone will save you a few headaches
