Blue Ribbon Downs (Sallisaw), established in the 1960s, became the state's first pari-mutuel facility and concentrated on Quarter Horse racing. It became the state's first "racino" by offering casino gaming in 2005. Financial problems caused it to close in November 2009, but by 2015 it was back in service as a training track.
