After thinking things over, a mini-chopper gets my first vote for a fun buildup. We're not going to build a 30hp racing kart, here. This isn't a Blockzilla or an Animal engine. This is a garden-variety flathead Briggs & Stratton engine. It can make enough power to move a person up to 60mph if I wanted to get that serious about things.

I used to bug a guy that built 5hp Briggs engines. He went to some pretty extreme measures on some engines to pick up hp. He had more tools to work on them than you could believe. A decent totally "stock" engine was around 9-10 horse on his dyno, the more extreme versions had over 30 easily.
