guy from NY state is right. there's plenty of ice racing going on in Wisconsin and chen shin are the studded tire of choice. i use 5/8in kold kutter ice screws. two in each knobby. i dip each screw in silicone before putting it in the tire. make sure to pattern your screws like a sled track. always making a fresh cut on the ice. cost isn't that big.
