1/2 TON IOR RACING SLOOP. Designed to the new Rule (1978-79) and with 1980-81 aft end changes incorporated, Design 93 represents Farr's current 1/2 Ton IOR Racing sloop. The general style of Design 93 is shorter, marginally heavier, and carries considerably more sail area than Design No. 65, and is therefore, a boat that is extremely fast in ...

My take on it is that the Holland designs for Ericson were less radical regarding the oddities that the IOR could demand, and this was a good fit for the B K designs that the company was famous for.

Now THAT is an IOR boat! Primarily designed for racing; not very "cruise friendly" in it's original configuration; huge sailplan, light displacement (Airex cored hull), shallow bilge, small powerplant, racing cockpit (low coaming and big for lots of crew, high freeboard. BUT, it can be converted to more of a cruising boat with the proper upgrades.
