You have to blip while downshifting to match the revs. Just tap the gas while downshiftig a bit or set the clutch assist to auto blip. That way you can downshift, but be carefull not to downshift too fast, otherwise the rear will lock up. Change the assist in your control options to auto blip and it'll work fine.

you need to blip the throttle when you downshift to keep the engine reved. iracing is different than other games in that if you're using a stick shifter and put it into 3rd from 2nd, it is emulating your racecar driver's arm pushing with what I guess is average strength. other games will just put it into gear and do some fake clutch shit.

Switch to right-foot braking and heel-toe. I don't think my dumb feet (and brain) can handle switching back and forth at this point. Keep left foot braking, switch left foot over to the clutch for upshifts, and blip for downshifts (without clutch).

Downshifts sometimes don't work. I just started using iRacing about 6 weeks ago. I've largely been driving the MX-5. My wheel hardware is: CSL Elite, with Formula V2 rim and the podium paddle shifters. On occasions in practice or in a race I have a scenario where the car won't downshift when it really seems like it should.

MX-5 Downshifting Troubles with Paddles. My 3rd season iRacing and have stayed running the MX-5 because that is what I could afford in real life. I have been having a blast until this season's change to paddle shift only. I would say I have been in the faster of the slow group, D license SR 4.25 and Ir around 1200.
