Yes, under chase nipples it says to go to conduit fittings but they don't mention chase nipple (that name) in that section. I will add that some of the cmp members still consider the fitting to follow the rules of raceways for fill etc. If I install 5 18" nipples together I will have a 90" section of raceway and it is required to follow the rules.

Used 3-2" chase nipples to feed branch circuits. Used center chase nipple for about 15 neutrals because of proximity to neutral bar. AHJ said I need to splice neutrals and pull them through with other conductors. 300.3 B applies if a chase nipple is considered and raceway. Wondering how it falls in application. infinity Moderator Staff member

bonding chase nipple | Mike Holt's Forum

even though the chase nipple is in direct metal to metal contact with both enclosures it still needs it because a regular lockring isn't an approved means or ??? It is a raceway and it contains service conductors. It is required to be bonded. They do make bonding bushings that can be installed after the cables are in place but they are not cheap.

A nipple is really just a raceway. Where nipple would be used the code should say "raceway of blah blah length" and bends should not matter.... length is length chris kennedy Senior Member Location Miami Fla. Occupation 60 yr old tool twisting electrician Jun 13, 2009 #3 Vertex said:

The fill area for a nipple is not the same as a raceway. The 60 percent fill area for a nipple allows more conductors to occupy the conduit than the 40 percent fill area allotted for a raceway without the application of derating factors. Sleeves A sleeve is used when a cord, cable or raceway requires protection from physical damage.
