Team Sonic Racing is good but the roster is terrible and the track variety leaves a lot to be desired. It should have been such a great game but it was simply abandoned at launch. To think I was originally more excited for TSR than CTR because in my mind, TSR was going to be the ultimate Sonic racer and CTR was going to be a barebones and inferior remake of a classic.

Sonic team racing as the name implies is a team based kart racer. You don't win the race by coming first, rather you win by combining the ranking( you get points for each position of your team member) of the whole team vs opponents teams. The handling is good, plus it is quite easy to pick up. The difficulty is handled better than CTR.
