    Conventional racing oil has extra zinc and is the same racing oil that have I been using for 25 years just check your bottles or the valvoline site. The synthetic racing oil has extra zinc also. VR1 is completely different from these other two types.

    I ran Valvoline synthetic for a while in a flat tappet 289, worked great and was impressed. Wasn't able to find zinc/phosphorus content on Valvoline synthetic. I did find those figures for VR1 though. I just switched to Mobil1 15w50 in my truck (460, flat tappet). This oil has 1300 ppm zinc and 1200 ppm phosporus, comparable to VR1 20w50.
