After that, John went home to Tipton, Missouri, and started his own business selling race engines. Doug Wolfgang utilized his engines for one of the most dominant seasons ever in 1989, giving Singer three Knoxville Nationals titles. Countless other drivers tasted success with Singer engines over the years. John passed away in early 2018.
