King are american, top spec bearings but do lots of grades from OE to on full on race. I'd be ok with them. I've always found KS ok for most applications. Don't get me wrong, i'm very happy with KS bearings as they are made in Germany and the original ones I pulled out of the engine are made by them aswell as having the VAG logo.

We really like the 3/4 groove performance bearings King has for Fords and Chevys. We've been twisting their arms and it looks like there's gonna be a 3" main version for Pontiac shortly. We prefer DuraBond "full round" cam bearings. Their "P" series (performance) are the best out there for rollers, short of needle bearings.

From my experience, King bearings, & ACL HP bearings will measure better ( repeatable) than Clevite.When using a .0001 bore gage, you will see differences with the Clevite bearings. Saying this only matters how fussy you are about your clearances. Some guys are ok with +/- .0002-.0003 or more differences.
