Lunsford sold the track in 1995. It was closed around 2011. In 2014, the Lanier National Speedway property was purchased by road-racing champion Jim Downing and renamed Lanier Raceplex. The infield walls, buildings, and facilities were removed and the whole track received a complete paving of the entire infield and oval.
