You install it and then immediately go to rfactorcentral.com and get a bunch of Hall of Fame tracks and cars as you like. You also need to install the Reel Feel plugin and you MUST have a decent force feedback wheel setup. All this is worth it because it has better graphics and online gameplay than GTR2 and is free to race with friends online.

Almost an LFS kind of feel but maybe a tad less forgiving, which is about right really. The physics engine can produce realistic results. I've bought rFactor 2, Project Cars, F1 2011 and had iRacing for a while. I always always end up back in LFS. I think the simple reason is that to really drive properly, you need 60 FPS, all the time.

The current state of rFactor 2 is as follows: Huge strides have been made in GFX department. Graphics look gorgeous at all times of the day. Night lighting looks amazing. No more cockpit over-exposure. New and vastly improved UI. ISI have begun releasing their fabled new contact patch model (pretty much the holy grail of racing sims these days).

Both rFactor2 and iRacing models chassis flex, which is important for historical and stiff suspension cars, and essential for race trucks and no-suspension karts. No such thing in rFactor1, Assetto Corsa or iRacing. Drivetrain Flex: Only iRacing, altough an improved rFactor2 drivetrain/driveline model is in the works and on high priority.
