I changed last year to lobaks & 4 x 4 headers at the same time. Total package is quieter at low RPM cruise, tinnier/raspier at idle, and louder at all other times. Just lobaks - no other items in exhaust. I think the mellower sound as the "break-in" is just more hearing loss.
