A Premier Race meeting to try the circuit and facilities out was enjoyed by 15,000 people and due to a packed program the last race was started at 6.15pm!! The 1961 Australian Grand prix was the first to have sponsorship by WD & HO Wills (Craven A cigarettes) to the value of 1000 pounds. Sixteen cars faced the starter for the 32-lap race.

CIRCUIT MAP Mallala Motor Sport Park is located near the town of Mallala, north of Adelaide in South Australia. The nearest airport is at Adelaide, around an hour's drive from the circuit. By car the circuit is easy to reach. From the centre of Adelaide, head north along the A1 to Two Wells, then follow signs for Mallala.
