In oval hole mandolins I've observed X bracing, a single cross brace, and the Eastman tone bar plus cross brace. Doesn't the crossing point of the braces introduce a hard spot in the top? If so, isn't that bad? I was wondering whether a Kasha type system or perhaps a "Y" brace system with a long brace and a separate short brace might be superior.
