Scalloped bracing was discontinued in late 1944 for all models, including the 000's. There were a few modern exceptions to 5/16" rule, including the 000-18GE, 000-18A, and 2014+ 000-18. Those three used 1/4" scalloped bracing. I suspect that sales of the reworked 000-18 encouraged Martin to make the change to scalloped bracing for the 000-28.

Tall #3 and #4 back braces are an adaptation from prewar arch top guitars. Martin didn't utilize those on flattops across the board until the late 80's or early 90's.
