The bottom picture shows a top from when golden era style had just been introduced (sitka, but no popsicle and thinner upper transverse brace). It looks a little different now, more "sophisticated" if you will (but with the less "correct" popsicle and thicker number one brace). It also looks a little less machined now IMO.

Moving the bracing to the rear stiffens the area of the top directly under the bridge. All things being equal it would almost certainly reduce the volume. Even then, it doesn't mean the guitar will be quiet, especially if the bracing is light enough. It colors the sound too, but I'm not 100% sure how to describe that.

GE bracing started in the 1990's. It is thoroughly modern bracing, but it is lighter than anything they'd done in decades. The bridge plate is 1 11/16" instead of the 2" plate on Standard and Vintage Series guitars. Vintage belly bridge Martin plates were 1 3/8". GE bracing has the modern tall back braces and L-shaped neck blocks.

In the early twentieth century, during Martin’s “Golden Era,” soundboards were made from Adirondack spruce and often braced with Sitka spruce. Claims that Martin always used Sitka bracing simply aren’t accurate. C. F. Martin III is on record saying his father cut down the spruce tree on their own lawn and used it for bracing.
